Why do I need a Carp Care kit?
A Carp Care Kit is used so that you can treat any open wounds, imperfections or pulled scales that you find on ALL carps while they are still on the bank. A carp kit is an inexpensive way to make sure that you can keep your large fish in good shape for as long as possible.
Two very good products on the market currently that you should always have in your Carp Fish Care Kit is Kryston's Klin-Ik and Gardner's Medic Plus.
Klin-Ik works the same way Dettol would on a wound, it cleans the wound and sterilizes it at the same time. You can use a cotton ball or cotton buds depending on the size of the wound, the same way you would clean an open wound on your own body. But be warned, it does burn a bit and the Carp might jump so be ready for it. Gardner Medic Plus on the other hand works as a plaster and is used to cover the wound. It also contains and antiseptic so it does clean the wound as well. It is not necessarily needed that you use both products but you should have at least one at all times.
Be sure to bring anti-bacterial wipes or gel so that you can clean your hands after you have handled the fish. Do this before you eat anything or do anything else. There are many different kinds of bacteria in the water that can cause illness and end your trip on a sour note. Carp might not be harmed by what is in the water but you surely can.
Treat wounds like this one to help Carp stay healthy and strong.
